Property Inventory IV

466 - 484 Geneva Avenue
Built: Approximately 1900
Number of Units: 19 Units
Type of Construction: Gut Rehab
With the Success of Boston Housing Partnership I, the Boston Housing Partnership II was created to work with the Federal Department of Housing and Urban Development around the disposition of properties in Boston which were substandard and/or vacant.
The Fields Corner CDC joined the partnership with the goals of continuing the work it had begun on Geneva Avenue. Additional properties were incorporated into the portfolio until it numbered 7 building.
The property has multiple entrances and addresses, but most of its systems are combined. This makes it very interesting from an operational standpoint.
We were delighted to see 484 Geneva Ave. as background in the movie"Good Will Hunting" so it was assumed to be South Boston. We know the real thing.

15-15A Bowdoin Avenue
Built: 1920
Number of Units: 21
Type of Construction: Gut Rehab
Located on top of Mt. Bowdoin, these buildings have magnificent and unique rental units. Some have views of the Blue Hills, other overlook Downtown Boston.
The architectural detail inside the building has been preserved. There are marble halls throughout and pressed tin wall treatments which ads to the charm of the properties.
The majority of our residents were living in these buildings when we took them over. They were relocated during construction and moved back on 1990. We have found that they take a very proprietary interest in their building and their neighborhood. Yard sales and lawn parties are held in the summer months in the park at the top of Mt. Bowdoin. During construction we had a fully fitted community room created to allow residents to meet together around issues and concerns.
